““Home away from home - Corner unit 301” #301 View from the lanai looking north. After extensive online research, we found this wonderful unit (301) at the Maui Kai. On Google Earth we saw that the Maui Kai is a great beach-front property, but is unique in its smaller, more intimate size. We had great plans to wander all over Maui - however, once we arrived at our home away from home, we found no reason to leave - sun, surf and sand right there on one of the best beaches on Maui! And every evening, we enjoyed a spectacular sunset on our private balcony (lanai). Our unit was newly remodeled, nicely appointed, and very clean. Most enjoyable was falling asleep on the lanai futon, looking up at the stars and listening to the waves break against the shore. We plan to stay here again and... ” — Highly Recommend It!! “The word "Paradise" seems to be over-used when talking about Hawaii in general, but to us, our stay at the Maui Kai unit #301 lived up to that description. What a rare thing it is in this day and age to have reality meet expectation! We booked the unit directly from the owner at Awake To Waves, and by the time the booking was taken care of and we were ready to depart on our trip, we felt as if we knew Shayla, the owner. She and her husband took painstaking effort to make sure we had the best experience possible, offered ideas of where to go and what to do, and followed up along the way. The unit itself is updated and nicely appointed. The owners have included all the recreational gear you'll need for playing in the water, and there are lots of guidebooks in the unit and previous guests suggestions galore. As others have said, sitting on the lanai of this corner unit condo makes you feel as if you are directly on the water, it is so close. Sleeping under the stars on the lanai futon and listening to the waves just has to be experienced. We will for sure be staying at #301 again in the future. Location, price and owner care is simply the best value around. “We stayed at the Maui Kai unit 301 October 7-14, and it was awesome! I've been to South America, Cancuun, the Pacific Rim, but never to Hawaai, so this was a trip I've been looking forward to for the past year… the place is very nice, granite countertops throughout, new appliances, modern bathroom, nice flat screen tv, etc. There is nothing like sitting on the lanai watching the sunset every night, and the warm winds blowing thru the bathroom window feel great in the afternoon. This condo building is in the middle of everything, just a 2 minute drive to a great snorkeling beach, 10 minutes to Lahaina on the south and Kapalua on the north, with a Star Market right across the street. Everything you need to cook is there, my wife is a chef and made us some great meals when we didn't eat out. Also all the beach equipment, chairs, snorkels, masks, boogie boards are in the unit also, which saves money on rentals. Many books about Hawaii are there, good ones on local trips, etc. We found a much better blowhole than the one in Hana just up the coast in Kapalua we never would have known about had that book not been there. Next time we go to Maui we are definitely staying in this unit again! FAVORITE THING: The view. Right over the beach, the closest you'll ever get in a room.
